1. Think about the different types of data you may encounter in your career field. Describe some specific types of data that you could use in a database, and how you could organize that data effectively. As part of your description, you should include possible field names, as well as useful queries, forms, or reports that could be derived from the data.

Your discussion grade will be determined by the CIA Discussion Rubric. The instructor may use his/her own discretion in awarding partial points for incomplete work. Signs of plagiarism indicated by a high Turnitin score may also result in loss of points, and possibly a 0 for the assignment.

1. The field that I would like to work in after graduation is appraising real estate. With Access I can use it to put contacts or potential clients into the database with names, place of business, address, phone numbers and emails. Once a client hires me for a job, I could use the reports to track when the job was hired, a completion date and even how much was paid on that particular job. When using the queries, I could choose only a few of the fields such as name of client and how much a job was for and this would assist me in getting specific financial information about the work completed. I would organize the information in the fields by alphabetizing certain areas such as the name of clients or the companies of the clients. I could also organize it by repeat customers or those customers who have hired me and given me the most revenue. I could see Access as a great tool to assist me in my career field.

2. When I graduate I plan on becoming a nurse. If I worked at a hospital, they already have databases in use that are universal throughout the building but if I worked in a nursing home access could be a helpful tool. I could use access to record the patient name, current medications, recent incidents (falls, behavioral issues, medication refusal, illnesses), next of kin and their contact info, and favorite things to do around the building or interests. This could be for the nursing home or just for my personal use while I was working. Then at the end of the year I could use a query to single out all the patients that had a fall or came down with a certain illness and use that for quality improvement and improved patient outcomes.

My major is Finance so when you write about access it should be in finance field.
