Part 1 – Complete a BCG Matrix
The BCG Matrix is most useful for determining what to do about individual products in a varied product line. For example, Apple produces iPhones, iPads, iPods and iWatches. The BCG Matrix measures market share and market growth potential for a product to help a company determine how best to approach the future of that product. Here is the first part of the assignment:
1.Select a food manufacturing and distribution company with a varied product line. Examples might include Kraft or Nabisco.
2.Select four products currently produced by that company, one each that falls in one of the four quadrants of the BCG Matrix.
3.Provide a brief (one paragraph) justification for why each of the products you selected falls into the category you determined.
Part 2 – Complete a Generic Strategies Analysis
Porter’s Generic Strategies Model helps a company determine its general strategy based on its scope and the source of its competitive advantage. Here is the se4cond part of the assignment:
1.Select four restaurant chains, one each that fits into each of the four competitive strategy categories.
2.Provide a brief (one paragraph) justification for why each of the companies you selected falls into the category you determined.
