Japan’s major cause of death for the last decade has been cancer. Gastric cancer also known as stomach cancer tends to develop slowly over many years. There are many risk factors that cause stomach cancer in Japan such as the diet, bacterial infection, and tobacco use. Japanese’s diet contains large amounts of smoked foods, salted fish and meat, which tend to increase the stomach cancer in the population. However, Japanese communities have a various types of fruits and vegetables that can dramatically decrease the risk of stomach cancer. Example of these types of various fruits and vegetables are Nashi pear, Ume, white strawberry, Komatsuna, and Shishito. All of these fruits and vegetables contain high amount of phytonutrients and antioxidants that studies show are very effective at destroying most of the cancer cells in the body. In my opinion, social media could be very powerful weapon to promote healthy eating habits to the public. Since many teenagers and adults people spend so much time on social media, we can use this to advertise for healthy food and how to prepare healthy dishes. In addition, physicians should also educate the public about the importance of healthy food.
