Students will review and write a paper detailing the scope of practice for school counselors in their respective states. This paper must adhere to APA guidelines (e.g., double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font; See APA Formatting and Style Guide https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/). Students must complete the following:

a.Review the American School Counseling Association (www.schoolcounseling.org), state school counseling association (e.g., The California Association of School Counselors http://www.schoolcounselor-ca.org/), and local credentialing agency requirements to become a school counselor (e.g., California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (https://www.ctc.ca.gov).

RESPONSIBILITIES TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS, SCHOOL AND SELF: B.3.1.i Responsibilities to Self. Explain how this code relative to your cultural competence affects your counseling style when working with counselees from diverse populations.
2. As school counselors may work collaboratively with clinical mental health counselors in a school setting, discuss how scope of practice could impact school counselors’ ability to provide social-emotional counseling services to counselees.
